Suddenly, the plan to go to Suriname emerged thanks to an enthusiastic story told by someone at a party. All the documentaries surrounding the 50th anniversary of independence helped the seed grow. It became a plan for a trip during the short dry season. We looked for a small-scale travel agency with extensive local knowledge. That became Travelsuriname. Listening carefully to what was important to us, Marijke created a plan for an independent trip. We had confidence in her, and if we had any doubts or wanted to know more about something, there was always time and an answer. And now we are back after 3 special weeks. We learned a lot about the history and culture of Suriname and thoroughly enjoyed the nature. There was also a relaxed schedule to allow us to take everything in. Everything was perfectly arranged, even when we wanted to change a location in Paramaribo during our trip. We enjoyed the friendliness of the people in Suriname, as well as wonderful conversations with Surinamese people and fellow travelers, and the diverse cultures. The combination of the various locations, where there is always something new to experience (Paramaribo; Peperpot; Bakkie; Kabalebo; KniniPaati; Bigi Pan; Bloemendaal). To us, Travel Suriname represents what Suriname stands for: ensuring you have a truly carefree and special trip, and on top of that, Dutch is spoken. Travelsuriname staff in the Netherlands and Suriname take the stress out of your trip. We are richer for an amazing experience.

We (a 45-year-old couple) just returned from a wonderful trip to Suriname. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the animals, and the delicious food. We also enriched ourselves with knowledge about, among other things, the history of slavery and life in Suriname. We are very happy with our choice of TravelSuriname. It all started on the website, choosing the trip components. TravelSuriname then expertly crafted a logical and well-organized trip, taking into account fixed arrival dates at accommodations. We also appreciated the personal contact with Marijke, especially during the trip itself. We felt clearly in good hands, with the guides, drivers, and Marijke. We didn't have to worry about departure times or transition times between activities. One time, a driver was late. Because of a connecting bus, we texted Marijke, and she immediately followed up, ensuring we caught our bus. We also noticed on the spot that TravelSuriname has a good reputation. We had a fantastic three-week trip with Travel Suriname. Everything was perfectly arranged, and we felt completely taken care of. Communication via WhatsApp during our trip was excellent, and we were kept well-informed about everything we were going to do. Everything went smoothly and on time. The accommodations were very nice and varied. The various tours were also very special: Peperpot (a wonderful place and Bakkie plantation), Bigi Pan (a fantastic spot on the water with the most beautiful birds), Knini Paati (among the Maroons and their culture), and Cabalebo (highly recommended, in the middle of the jungle). In between, we had relaxing days in Bloemendaal and Houttuyn. Hotel Torarica in Parimaribo was a great base. You could also store your luggage there if you're going on a trip for a few days. Marijke also arranged for luggage storage at their location. Marijke contacted us beforehand to determine what would suit us and, based on that, created a program that perfectly suited us from start to finish: culture, nature, history, and relaxation. We also received extensive information about our accommodations and activities, so we knew exactly what to expect. We fell in love with Suriname and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a fantastic time in Suriname. Thanks in part to Marijke and her team, we had a wonderful time. Everything was well-organized, and we were always able to stay in touch. A very varied program (Paramaribo, Frederiksdorp, Pingbe, Bigi Pan, and the beautiful Bloemendaal) included jungle explorations, exploring Paramaribo by bike, plantations, and birdwatching areas. So much variety, and everyone was so helpful and friendly.

We, two retired travel friends, had a wonderful holiday in Suriname with a very varied program. Cycling in the Commewijne district, staying at the Peperpot and Frederiksdorp plantations, and an extra visit to the Bakkie plantation were a great success. We also really enjoyed the extensive canoe trips at Bigi Pan and Dan Paati. We saw many scarlet ibises and other animals. We enjoyed the beautiful jungle scenery and learned a lot about Surinamese history. The guides were great, and everything was perfectly arranged on time by Marijke and her team. In short, a fantastic holiday and a fantastic travel agency.

Too many photos to choose from, but here's a small selection. What a fantastic trip we had! We were married for 25 years, I was born in Suriname, and this was THE time to take my husband. And what an unforgettable holiday Marijke from Travelsuriname and all the guides gave us. Everything was arranged perfectly after I had expressed my wishes. With a oh-so-cozy hotel as a base in Paramaribo and many fun trips: Frederiksdorp, cycling through Commewijne and Paramaribo (you can rent bikes from Tilburg Travel), to the interior (Palumeu by plane), and Anaula by canoe from Atjoni. Travelsuriname arranged all the transfers, and we didn't have to pay cash anywhere, except for the occasional guide (if we wanted to). A bar of chocolate or a bottle of rum was also very appreciated. The people are incredibly friendly and don't ask for tips at all. The guides tell you a lot about the nature, the history, and everything you see while you're in the car. We'll be back; Suriname is in our hearts. And how wonderful it is to be there for three weeks at the end of January. 30 degrees Celsius, sunshine, occasional heavy rain, and sometimes even a bit of cloud. But always nice and warm.

Our trip to Suriname 🇸🇷 is simply fantastic 🌴🍀 What a beautiful country, flora and fauna, culture, and so much adventure! Everything we researched with Marijke was exactly what we had in mind. It was a nice, relaxed pace, allowing us to enjoy ourselves and adjust to the heat. The further along our trip, the more adventurous the excursions became. What we experienced was incredible 🙏 Everything was well organized, including guides, boatmen, and transfers. Suriname is in our hearts ❤️ The people are so hospitable and friendly; most of them stop for a chat. The food and fruit are delicious; you can taste it immediately, so fresh and flavorful.
